A little about us...

Wichita, Kansas, United States
We are Bill and Blanche Roman, owners of what began as a very small river cabin on the Little Arkansas River, where we raised our six children. As a newly married couple (45 years ago) we needed to repurpose, reuse, redo all things and from this we realized we had a gift for design. We have built a business that grew out of our passion for designing and building new furniture along with refurbishing vintage furniture and homes. We have learned that what we do, although easy for us, is not so easy for everyone. So...we have been encouraged to share our finds and treasures and how we transform them.

FIRST POST!!!!

The following pictures are just a quick glimpse into a few of the rooms in our house to give you an idea of what our  "tastes" are like.  This "entry way piece" was picked up at a garage sale, it was not connected.  It was the mirror from a dresser and a low dresser, they were two different woods so we painted, stained and married the two pieces, Bill added the cool curvy legs and presto chango it is a hall tree, with drawers for scarves and gloves, etc.
Here are a collection of bird cages that I've picked up from various places, they sit atop our T.V., entertainment center, along with some antique lamps. (it's a little dusty up there)
Just recently a wall was taken half way down to open up the kitchen area and a bar was installed..  This was once a very small bedroom, it has made an amazing difference in the daylight that floods our kitchen.  I can actually cook and see birds, trees, flora, and wildlife.  I LOVE that!!  Some people think our bar is granite, but it  is actually an inexpensive piece of prefab, formica kitchen counter.  My talented husband mitered the ends so it looks like a solid surface.  He is the bomb!
This entertainment center was made completely on a tablesaw!!!!!  We had been to Santa Fe and saw some beautiful Southwestern furniture.  This is Bill's version, it was difficult, at first, for him to distress it as much as it needed, to have the look of rustic furniture.
Bed built by Bill...This was made from a six panel door.  I asked him for a poster bed, it will be around way after we aren't, it is solid!  The side table which is barely visible was made by Bill when he was in high school, it is one of my favorite pieces.
This oak table is interesting, because it was made out of  semi-truck bedding, given to us by our brotherinlaw.  The legs were given to us by a friend, when they didn't sell at her garage sale!  Of course Bill had to plane the truck-bedding and desighn how to make it all work together.  YEP! I'm a lucky women.
